Come, Encounter, Change: Message From Pastor

Shoes - 3

Come as you are! Every one of us has messed up in some way. We have either done terrible things or terrible things have been done to us. Unfortunately, these painful areas of life have cause many to live with crippling guilt and shame.

…if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God…And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation” (2 Cor 5:17-19).

God has called the church (those who have surrendered their life to Jesus) to be the voice of hope in a broken world. However, church culture has often been religious, hypocritical and judgmental. At Brightview, we seek to cultivate a come-as-you-are culture. We are all broken people seeking healing from our past. When we come as we are, we have opportunity to discover the inspiration, power and community that enables us to not stay that way.

Encounter Jesus together. In attempts to better our predicament we often try being a “good” person, attend church, or help the less fortunate. Although good endeavors, they are powerless to create real change. Jesus did not come to create a religion but rather invite each of us into a personal and vibrant relationship with him.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28).

We are invited to encounter Him, know Him and be changed by Him. It is by His love and grace that we can be forgiven and receive a new beginning. This is done in the context of a caring community. Brightview is a community seeking to encounter Jesus together; to care for one another, to support one another and to do every-day life together. We are not designed to do life on our own. Come encounter Jesus with us and let’s do life together.

Change for good. When overcome by life’s challenges we seek to cope. We find temporary escapes that enable us to face just one more minute, one more hour, one more day. Inevitably however, what we sought to escape returns. As a result, we settle for a less-than life.

I have come that [you] may have life, and have it to the full” (Jn 10:10).

Jesus came, lived, served, died, and rose again not for you to cope, but for you to live a full and overflowing life. He came for you to experience freedom from the past, joy in the present and hope for the future. He offers you a new beginning that serves a purpose beyond yourself. It is a journey of life-change that does not disappoint.

Brightview is a community of people on a journey. You are invited to join us. Come as you are, let’s encounter Jesus together and be changed for good.
